She was born on April 9, 1930 in Colorado City to Prentice and Ruby Moore Green.
Geneva was a nurturing soul who who loved being a mother and grandmother, whether they were hers or their friends. She was the type of woman who accepted everyone as they were, but would tell them how she felt if she did not agree with what they were doing, which is why she never met a stranger. She was an avid Cowboys fan and a Golden State Warriors fan. In her spare time she could be seen planting something, whether that gardening was outside in the yard or indoor in pots getting the plants ready to grow. She also enjoyed playing bingo and watching the Game Show Network 24/7.
She is survived by her many children; John B Jackson and wife Elizabeth of Colorado City, Charles Green of Colorado City, James Lee Green of El Paso, Willie T Mayes of Colorado City, Larry Mayes and girlfriend Joy Dempsy, Barbara Monroe and husband Tommy of Colorado City, Jonell Mayes and husband Larry Keen of Colorado City, Charlene McAdams and husband Mark of Colorado City, Beverly Wright and husband John of Midland, Mary Ellen Mayes of Colorado City, Linda Fitzpatrick and husband Frank of Colorado City, Doris Faye Green of Colorado City, Doris Mae Wiley and husband Roosevelt of Midland, Juanita Johnson and husband Henry of Odessa, Kathy Green of Colorado City, and Lacy Franco and husband Isaac of Houston. She is also survived by three sisters Juanita Trotter of Topeka Kansas, Edna Wilson of Lubbock, and Dorothy Wilson and husband Marvin of Odessa, as well as by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Otis Mayes in 2007, by a son Louis T Green, daughters Mary Helen Mayes and Linda Mae Combs, and by her siblings Jay Virgil Green, Elmer Green, Willie Green, David Green, Francis Tryon,Helen Green, and Ellen Smith.
A funeral service for Geneva will be held on Saturday, August 25th at 2 pm at the First Baptist Church in Colorado City, burial will follow in the Mitchell County Cemetery.
The family will be present for a visitation from 6-8 pm on Friday, August 24th at Kiker Seale Funeral Home.
