Grady Morris Sloan

January 1, 1932November 2, 2018

Grady Morris Sloan, 86, Colorado City went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 2nd, 2018, he was at the Mitchell County Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. Morris was born in Colorado City on January 1, 1932 to Grady and Marguerite Sloan. Morris served in the National Guard. He also worked for Tu Electric. Then he worked for many years for Col-Tex Refinery then transferred to Cosden Oil and Chemical, and later was known as Fina from which he retired. Morris was the type of man who was set in his ways and was very dedicated to his church spending many years going to the prison to spread the word of God. He spent one year at Texas Tech where he played the Tuba in the band. Everybody that knew Morris knew that he loved his God, his family and his community. He enjoyed the time he spent giving back to his community as a volunteer fireman and after so many years of dedicated service was told that he would always be a member of the department. He was a very giving man always making sure to donate his time to anyone, and though he could be stubborn, he had the patience of a saint, especially when his wife Marilyn went back to school to get her RN as a middle-aged woman. In his spare time Morris could be seen spending time with his family or working with his hands building, repairing, or remodeling almost anything that could be done with a carpenters touch. The lessons he taught his family over the years will live on for many years to come. Morris is survived by his wife of 19 years Marilyn Sloan, two daughters Deborah Chaney and husband Gary, Lanette Ramage and husband Robert, a step daughter Amy Mayer and husband Joe, two step-sons Lee Beeson and Timothy Beason, brother-in-law Lonnie Hoyle and by his grandchildren: Morris Chaney and wife Stephanie, Alva Chaney, Kameron Earles and husband Brian, Judd Ramage, Joey Mayer, Jake Mayer, and Lily Beeson, as well as by 9 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his niece Gwen James and husband Larry, and nephews Mike Alexander, Mark Hoyle, and Adam Hoyle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne Hoyle Sloan and his sister, Erma Alexander.
