He was born in Bastrop Texas on September 14, 1941 to the late Enrique and Adela Galvan Castillo.
Henry was a man who enjoyed life to its fullest, loved his family deeply, and made sure to work hard. He spent many years working at the cotton gin in Colorado City, as well as a number of other odd jobs over the years. He was an amazing husband, a great father and an even better grandfather. Henry was an active leader of the “Over the Hill Gang” which is where he earned the alias of Mr. McKinzee. He enjoyed his yearly horse-back trail rides and going to Vegas to hit up the casinos. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, having a house full of family, and doing special things with his grandchildren, cooking at the Boer Goat cook off, and making new friends.
Henry is survived by his wife Olga Castillo of Colorado City, by his daughters Diana Oliver and husband Gregg of Sweetwater, Sandy Castillo of Colorado City, Christine Pevehouse and husband Dennis of Devine, Nancy Castillo and husband Ray Vanderslice of Colorado City, and Leticia Usener and husband Jeremy also of Colorado City, by a special niece Yolanda Carnett and husband John of Spring, and a special nephew Reynaldo Selvera of Colorado City. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kelsee, Isaac, D.J., Jacob, Chase, Chance, Amanda, Zach, Stephanie, Aaron, Cortney, Natalie, Nicholas, Ashlea, and Jayden, by 22 great-grandchildren, and by 2 sisters Esperanza Davila of Odessa and Connie Garcia of Devine. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends are also left behind to cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by a granddaughter Jessica Castillo, and by his siblings Tom Castillo, Tony Castillo, Ernest Castillo, Luz Gomez, Herminia Selvera, Delfina Castillo, and Senaida Pineda.
A funeral service for Henry will be held on Wednesday, February 26th at 2 pm at Oak St. Baptist Church in Colorado City with Pastor Jackie Brem officiating. The family will be present at the Kiker Seale Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 25th from 6-8 pm.
