

Colorado City – Imogene “Gene” Cawthron, 93, of Colorado City passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Mitchell County Hospital. Funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday at Oak Street Baptist Church with Jackie Brem officiating. Burial will follow at Colorado City Cemetery. Services under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Gene was born March 23, 1919 in Glen Rose, TX to Joseph James and Melvina Lee Newman. On April 5, 1941, she married Valton Ray Cawthron; who preceded her in death in 1993. She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church. She worked until 2004 as a beautician.
Surviving Gene is her daughter, Vonita Adams of Colorado City; 3 sons, Travis and wife, Pat Cawthron, Gregory J. and wife, Margaret Cawthron, all of Colorado City, and Scott D. and wife, Pam Cawthron of Lubbock. Also surviving Gene are grandchildren, Sheila and husband, Stan Bradbury, Marcia Womack, Terri and husband, Brady Robinette, Rachel and husband, Justin Sullivan, Cy Cawthron, and Delaney Cawthron; 10 great-grandchildren; special niece, Glenda and husband, Buddy Marcom, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 PM at Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
