She was born on January 21, 1948 in Eastland, Texas to Bennie Jack and Phyllis Ruth Bailey Swindle.
Pvt. Jacqueline Swindle Simmons spent a year in the United States Army stationed in Japan before her honorable discharge in 1968. Jacqueline was a very opinionated woman who knew what she wanted, and it was always her way or the highway when you were dealing with her. In her spare time she enjoyed her arts and crafts, doing things like making bracelets. She also enjoyed collecting stuffed animals. Those that knew her were glad to have Jacqueline in their life, and that while they are sad they take comfort in knowing that she is at peace, after living and dying on her own terms.
Jacqueline is survived by her brother Thomas Swindle and wife Katherine of Lubbock, by a granddaughter, and by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bennie Jack and Phyllis Swindle, by her husband Luis Simmons, and by sons Ronnie and B.J. Hume.
Military Rights for Jacqueline will be performed in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene on Thursday, February 19th at 1 pm.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Kiker Seale Funeral Home in Colorado City.
