
Beeman Dockrey, 92, Passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Mitchell County Hospital, following a stroke. Beeman was born February 1, 1919 in Lamar County,TX to parents Ross and Evelyn Dockrey. His family moved to Mitchell County in 1928. Beeman attended Tarleton College and the University of Texas, where he played football. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the army artillery. He married Betty Jo Pitts on December 15, 2000 in Goodyear,Arizona. Beeman worked as an independent oil wells in the Permian Basin and Williston Basin(North Dakota). He was an participant in the American Quarter Horse Association.He was a member of the Plainview Church of Christ in Colorado City. He also loved football.
Survivors include: Wife: Jo of Colorado City, Brothers: Harry Dockery and wife Dorris of Colorado City and Kenneth Dockery and wife Joy of Colorado City. He is preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Ross Dockrey; 2 sisters, Oleta Whitt and Bobbye Furrer; and infant daughter, Beth.
Memorial Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Colorado City on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 2:00 P M . Dr. Larry Fitzgerald, pastor of the Plainview Church of Christ will be officiating services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Horizons Ranch(child services for disadvantaged and abused children), 500 Chestnut Street,Suite 1101, Abilene Texas 79602 or you favorite charity. All arrangements are under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
