family at the Mitchell County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center early Monday morning on June
27th, 2022.
Born September 3rd, 1948 in Levelland Texas, he was the son of James Newton Lamb and
Dorothy Lee Harris.
James had a firecracker soul, remembered by his family for his witty humor and love for pulling
pranks. He was referred to as ‘Peepaw’ by his children, and grandchildren.
James was a hardworking family man, pushing tools and dedicating his entire life to the oil field
industry. Meeting many good friends in doing so, he even introduced his son to the occupation
as well.
He was very inquisitive and had many impressive hobbies. For years, he devoted time into
researching his family’s genealogy, and composed several books with data tracing all the way
back to the year 100. His passion for music was ingrained, he had the ability to learn an
instrument fluently in a single sitting, and composed beautiful songs of his own for his loved
ones. He also spent much time participating in a band called The Country Boys.
He kept extensive journals detailing his life along with his bride, Bessie. His adoration for her is
a matter that we will all treasure.
James is survived by his mother Dorothy Lee Harris of Lubbock, Tx, his brother Donald Garret
of Lubbock, Tx, and a sister Darlene Lauranoff of Colorado City, Tx. By sons Mike Moore and
wife Sue of Sonora,Tx; Rusty Moore of Sierra Blanca,Tx, and James H. Lamb and wife Wendy
of Salina, Utah; and a daughter, Pennie Jo Davis and husband John of Austin,Tx. He was
blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His family has opted for a private Celebration of Life, being held at a later date. They would also
like to thank the Mitchell County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Colorado City, and their
wonderful staff.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.kikerseale.com for the Lamb family.
