Juanita C. Briseno, 92, Loraine, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, September 17, 2020. Juanita was born on March 17, 1928 in Rosebud Texas to Jacinto and Guillerma Rangel Castilleja. Juanita was a humble woman who was always grateful for everything in life. She was the type of woman who understood that each day, each opportunity, and everyone in her life were a blessing from God. Juanita was a proud member of Saint Ann’s and Saint Joseph’s Catholic Churches in Mitchell County and devoted much time as a member of the Guadalupana’s, having served as a past president in Lorenzo, Texas. Juanita was a self-taught woman with great strength and wisdom, and faith in the lord. She learned to read from newspapers that she seen plastered on the walls and was so good at math that she understood how to stretch a dime to a dollar. Juanita spent many years working as a seamstress for Wall’s Factory. She also raised cattle on a farm. No matter the jobs she held her family always came first, as she had unconditional love for them. She was the best wife she could be to her husband Eloy who preceded her in death, and was a devout mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she always made time for her nieces and nephews. In her spare time she could be seen using her skills in service and her skilled hands to do things for those she loved. She would sing her songs as she crocheted, sewed, stitched her needlepoint, or took care of her animals. Her high spirited, happy attitude made it easy to love all and instantly make friends with everyone she met. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. Juanita is survived by her sons; Eugene Briseno and wife Laura of Midland, Joe Briseno and wife Eloisa of Midland, Santiago Briseno of China Grove, and Eloy Briseno Jr. and wife Minnie of Hutto, and by three daughters Mary Ester Pena and husband Rey of Lubbock, Sandy Rodriguez and husband Steve of Lubbock, and Beatrice Juarez and husband Gary of Kyle, as well as by 18 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband Eloy Briseno Sr. in 1992, by her parents, by a grandson Justin Eloy Briseno, by her brothers Santiago Castilleja Sr, Eluterio Castilleja, Ysidora Castilleja, and Natividad Castilleja Sr. and by a sister Guadalupe Villanueva A Mass of Christian Burial for Juanita will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd at 10 am at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church in Colorado City with Father Michael Udegbunam officiating, interment to follow in the Loraine Cemetery. The family will be present for a visitation from 6-8 pm in the Kiker Seale Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary to be performed at 7pm. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Saint Ann’s or Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church.
