

He was born on June 28, 1937 to Alvin and Effie Pritchett Applin in Lamesa, Texas
Those that knew him knew that he was a joke teller and loved to tell stories, making it so that he never met a stranger. His stories filled the ears of many in the area, even children because he loved to brighten up a child's day bringing joy and laughter to their life. He was a devoted husband of 58 years to his surviving wife Wanda, whom he married on December 20, 1957 in Lamesa and was a dedicated father to his 3 sons. Leon was also one of the hardest working men that many have ever seen. He was a religious man who took joy in going to different area churches with his wife to sing and share his love of gospel music.
Leon is survived by his wife Wanda and by his sons Sid Applin and wife Tresa of Hobbs, New Mexico and Alvin Applin and wife Gail of Midland. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Autumn Hall and husband J.D. of Bentonville Arkansas, Cody Applin and wife Niki of San Angelo, Blair Green and wife Chelsea of Dallas, Morgan Green of Grandbury, and Jordan Green of Carollton, as well as 6 great-grandchildren, his sister Dorothy Kidd of Lamesa and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son Ronnie Applin and by 5 siblings.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 20th at 1:30 pm with the Rev. Jerry Shields officiating and Judge James William assisting in the Colorado City Cemetery.
