

Colorado City – Margaret Ann Brophy, 62, of Colorado City passed away August 12, 2012. She was born March 9, 1950 to Michael Bopp and Elizabeth Frick in Denver, Colorado. Miss Brophy attained an associate’s degree in psychology and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Society where she was recognized as Woman of the year in 1985 by the Jeff Co. Charter Chapter. She was a member of Business & Professional Women in Eastlake, CO. She was also recognized by President Ronald Reagan for organizing the observance of American Business Women’s Day which is held September 22nd of each year. She served as Auxiliary President in 1979. In Colorado City, she was active in many organizations. She was a member of the Colorado City Housing Authority Board and KCCB (Keep Colorado City Beautiful). She was recognized as a guest speaker of the Lion’s Club. She worked at TDCJ as a correctional officer. One of her hobbies was bowling with the Early Birds. In January 1982, she was awarded an “I beat the manager at Fair Lanes Bowl-O-Mat” trophy.
Miss Brophy is survived by her brothers, William Brophy and wife, Isabelle, Wesley Brophy and wife, Marilyn; sister, Cecilia Clark and husband, William; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Patrick Taylor.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday in the chapel at Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
