

Marion Kelley Bullock, 81, died Tuesday March 22 at the local hospital. Marion was born in Coleman, TX to Arthur and Birdie Kelley June 6, 1934. Later she lived in San Angelo, then in Colorado City. She graduated from Colorado High School in 1951. She attended Hardin-Simmons University two years and later Western Texas College one year.
Marion was an accomplished writer, serving for more than twenty years as a Sunday School curriculum writer for the Baptist Sunday School Board. These teaching materials were for preschool children and their teachers. She was widely used for teaching conferences for workers in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. In later years she began writing fiction and published numerous short stories and six novels. She also had a talent for painting and produced many oil and watercolor paintings.
She served with her husband, John, in a number of churches and in several ways. She was a preschool Sunday School and Vacation Bible School leader, and at various times served as teacher and leader in all age groups in the churches where they served. She also used her musical talents as choir member, soloist, pianist and organist, as needed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Birdie Kelley and a sister, Barbara Ann Kelley Cunningham.
Marion married the love of her life, John W. Bullock January 30, 1953 in Colorado City. She is survived by her husband, John of Colorado City, and three children, Ruth-Ellen Hall and husband, Dwight, of California MD, Valerie White of Loxahatchee FL, and David Bullock of Dallas TX. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Chris Hall and Cherise Hall of California MD and William Bullock of Loraine TX, who John and Marion adopted and raised as their son. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren.
A Funeral service for Marion will be held on Tuesday, March 29th at 10 am at the Oak Street Baptist Church of Colorado City with the Rev. Jackie Brem officiating, burial will follow in the Colorado City Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 28th from 6-8 pm at the Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
