Mary Christine Webb Vest, known to friends as Chris Vest, went home to be with her Lord Jesus on December 20, 2014. She was born in Mitchell County to Minnie and C.E. Webb on March 27, 1922. Chris grew up in communities near Colorado City, Texas.
In 1943, she married Paul L. Vest. While Paul was in the military during World War II, they were moved to several military bases, where she worked as a parachute packing instructor.
After World War II, they returned to Colorado City. Chris worked in several part time retail jobs, but most of her time was spent as a loving wife and mother. She also loved her church, Oak Street Baptist Church, and served as a volunteer in several areas of work there. She loved her Colorado City friends and remained in contact with them throughout her life.
In 2001, due to poor health, she moved to Spring, Texas, to live with her daughter, Shirley, and Son-in-law, Doug Howell. At that time, she joined the Spring Creek Baptist Church and dearly loved the ladies of the Rebecca Sunday School Class. Chris is survived by her daughter Shirley and husband Doug Howell of Spring, Texas, her grandson, Daniel Howell and wife Heather of Bellbrook, OH. Three Great-grandchildren, Isabella, Charlotte, and Alexander Howell of Bellbrook OH, and many nephews and nieces. She will be greatly missed by all.
The family will receive friends 9-10 AM Saturday, December 27, 2014, at the funeral home prior to her service at 10 AM. Then burial will follow in the Colorado City Cemetery under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
