He was born in Colorado City to Maxcimino and Mary Lou Morales on February 10, 1971.
He graduated from Colorado High School and carried with him a strong connection to his roots in Colorado City throughout his life. Mickel was truly larger than life. He never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel like an old friend within minutes of meeting him. Known for his quick wit, playful humor, and love of a good joke, he brought laughter into every room he entered. If Mickel was there, there was always a story being told—and usually one that ended with everyone smiling. Mickel enjoyed the simple and meaningful things—hunting, fishing, spontaneous road trips, and sharing meals with family at new places, always turning ordinary moments into lasting memories. More than anything in this world, Mickel loved being a father to his son, Will. That role was his greatest pride and joy, and he spoke of Will often with love and admiration.
Whether he was spending time with family, catching up with friends, or meeting someone new, Mickel’s presence was unforgettable and his personality left a lasting mark on everyone he encountered. In the days leading up to his passing, he said, “As long as there’s a funny story to tell about me, I’ll live forever.” And for Mickel, that will undoubtedly be true. His stories, laughter, and spirit will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of those who knew and loved him. Mickel will be deeply missed, but his legacy of humor, love, and connection will never be forgotten.
Mickel is survived by his wife Jennifer Morales, his son William Morales both of Newark, by his father Max Morales of Irving; brothers Ricky Silva and wife Joanne of Lone Oak and Johnny Morales of Irving; his sisters Gloria Davila and husband Luis of Loraine and Beatrice Nunez of San Antonio, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Lou Morales and his brother Fidel Silva Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mickel will be held on Saturday, May 9th at 10 am at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church in Colorado City with Father Michael Udegbunam officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchell County Cemetery under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
