OBITUARY

Robert McNeal

April 24, 1954February 26, 2019

Robert L McNeal, 64, Colorado City, passed away in the Hendrick Medical Center of Abilene surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, February 26, 2019. He was born to Charles and Martha Haney McNeal in Woodland Maine on April 24, 1954. Robert was a good-hearted Christian man who spent his life loving family and appreciating all the friendships he made along the way. He could tell some of the most amazing stories and loved to make others laugh. His own laugh was infectious; it could light up a room putting smiles on the faces of all who heard it. Robert came to Texas to work in the oil-fields, but soon after found himself self-employed, for a while he owned a septic tank service, but found his calling doing plumbing, where he got to use his gift of being a people person (the gift of gab) while helping others. Those that didn’t know him for the plumbing business knew him from being a school bus driver for many years in Colorado City or as a past city councilman. In his spare time he enjoyed doing scrap metal, reading his books and newspapers, singing, riding his motorcycle and being with his grandchildren. Robert is survived by his wife Cheryl of Colorado City, by his sons; Todd McNeal of Mesquite, Benjamin McNeal and wife Julie of Colorado City, and Christopher McNeal of Colorado City, and by his daughters Amy Foster and husband Jared of Colorado City, and Alicia Melvin and husband David of Chesapeak Virginia, as well as by his grandchildren Jacob McNeal, Rachael McNeal, Kennedy McNeal, Hunter Foster, Erin Foster, and Benjamin Foster. He is also survived by his brother David McNeal of Voorhees N.J. and by his sisters Carolyn Wilcox and husband Eddie of Arizona, Thelma Powers and husband Charlie of Old Orchard Beach Maine, and Debbie McNeal of New Sweeden Maine. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Robert Charles McNeal, by 2 brothers Wilfred McNeal and Melvin McNeal, and by a sister Mavis Greer. A memorial service for Robert will be held at Christian Temple on Saturday, March 2nd at 2pm with Bobby Matlock officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kiker Seale Funeral Home

Cheryl and Family, I am so saddened to hear about Bob. He was such a smart man and such a great city councilman! Im sure Bob and Jim are discussing politics. Bob was funny, and a good friend to us. Sending you love and prayers for peace and comfort.

You were taken too soon and too suddenly. I'd love to have one last surprise visit. I'll miss calling you on a random Saturday as I'm out and about. Now who's gonna ask me about my weather? You will always be the first man I ever loved. I don't know what I'm going to do without you. I love you, Dad.

In our Christian walk God sends angels along side us in moments of our lives when we need them the most. They encourage us and send us out with God’s Blessings to be the light in this dark world. Bob did this I suspect for many besides just me, but for me I have never forgotten his kindness and gentleness and his obedience to his Heavenly Father, My friend thank you. May you rest in the peace of Christ Jesus.
