She was born on August 22, 1931 in Amarillo, Texas to the late Edgar and Dorothy Gatlin Mayrant.
Shirley was a woman with a huge heart, who loved her God, loved her family, and loved her community. She was a very welcoming person who always made sure that anybody who walked in her home had something to eat. She spent many years as an Outreach Director for Colorado ISD, but she had other jobs through the years as well, including as a substitute teacher in Pecos teaching her favorite subject, history. Shirley was a very active member in her community. She was a life member of the First United Methodist Church of Colorado City, helped with Meals-on-Wheels, belonged to the Methodist Women’s Group, and was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, as well as a Kiwanian, and a member of the Eastern Stars. In her spare time Shirley enjoyed collecting chickens, doing arts and crafts, reading a good book, or rooting for the Dallas Cowboys.
Shirley is survived by her 2 sons, Bobby Rogers and wife Kay of Rowlette and Michael Rogers and wife Kathy of Colorado City, by a daughter Shaunna Kimbriel and husband James of Loraine, and by 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren with another on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Rogers in 2017, and by her parents.
