

Mr. Tex Blankenship, age 77, of Colorado City, died Saturday evening in an Abilene hospital. As per his request, he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, May 20, 2015, in the First Baptist Church in Colorado City, with Dr. Jerry Shields officiating. Kiker-Seale Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Tex was born December 8, 1937 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Aaron and Viola Beatrice Adams Blankenship and had been a resident of Colorado City for the past 50 years. He married Jolene Bagwell on April 19, 1958 in Wewoka, OK. He worked for Atlantic Richfield Oil & Gas for 38 years as a pumper and roustabout. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Colorado City and a 38 year member of the Colorado City Volunteer Fire Dept.
He is survived by his wife Jolene Blankenship of Colorado City, a daughter; Leisa Dawson of Colorado City; a son Rod Blankenship of Cristoval; a brother, Alvis and wife, Beverly Blankenship of Lawn, TX; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Charles Blankenship and a grandson, Reno Martin.
The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
