

Mr. Eldon Harris, age 62 of Colorado City, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday May 2, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Smith officiating.
Mr. Harris was born February 1, 1953 in Colorado City to William E. and Angie Hartsfield Harris and had spent most of his life in Colorado City. He married Kay England on June 5, 1976 in Kismet, KS.
He is survived by his wife Mary Kay Harris of Colorado City; a son Brodie and wife Malarie Harris of Colorado City; grandchildren Kaper and Kantyn Harris; three brothers: Rex and wife Karen Harris of Muleshoe, Billy and wife Janie of College Station and Dwayne and wife Debbie Harris of Colorado City. He is also survived by his in-laws Ernest and Wanita England of Kismet, KS.
He spent his earlier years working for Dowell- Schlumberger in Colorado City and later transferred to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska where he spent 9 years. After returning to Colorado City he worked for a local oilfield service company. Eldon was also very active in the Mitchell County Livestock Show during the years that his son Brodie showed animals. Something that Eldon was passionate about was raising show hogs and show goats and giving them to local students who were active in 4-H and FFA. Hunting was another hobby and favorite past time of his. The door was always open at the Harris house to anyone who stopped by. They were made welcome and treated like family.
Something else that Eldon had become quite fond of, were his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time playing with them and taking long naps in his chair.
