He was born on October 31, 1920 to E.H. and Edna Robinson Taylor in Westbrook, Texas
Bill lived a long life filled with the love of God, family, and hard-work. He grew up in Laskytown during the Great Depression, and he attended the Sheppard School there and then attended school at Colorado High. He was a man who was passionate about his family as they along with God were the center of his life. His vacations often revolved around family and spending as much time as he could with his 2 boys, often choosing to camp in tents as opposed to the hotels. He was a man who believed in hard work, which started at the age of 6 helping on the farm and in the cotton fields. He was a proud World War II Veteran having served his time during the war stationed in England. After the war he came back home to his wife Sue whom he married a year before and together they raised their family and worked hard to provide a life of knowledge and love for their family. Aside from working on the farm Bill worked for ColTex refinery and at Cosden in Big Spring until he retired in 1982. Aside from vacationing and camping with his family Bill enjoyed fishing, tending to his hundreds of rose bushes, and sharing the history of Mitchell County with those who wanted to learn about his wonderful hometown. Bill will be cherished by all those whose life he had touched over his many years in the area.
Bill is survived by his son Randy Taylor and wife Patti of Norman Oklahoma, by his grandchildren Keith Taylor, Kimberly Taylor Hanes and her husband Gary, Chad Taylor and his wife Jacquelyn, Brandon Taylor, Steven Taylor and his wife Ashley , by his great-grandchildren Jayden Hanes, Landon Hanes, Michaela Taylor Wheelock and her husband Nicholas , Camryn Taylor, Caleb Taylor, Bailey Taylor, and Madison Taylor, by great-great-grandchildren Aiden James Taylor and Jaxon Luther Wheelock , and niece Brenda Shifflett and her husband Charlie, and nephews Jerry Jones and his wife Patsy, and Mike Jones and his wife Karen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Sue Taylor, and by a son Steve Taylor.
A funeral service for Bill will be held at the Kiker Seale Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 24th at 10 am with his son Randy Taylor officiating, burial will follow in the Colorado City Cemetery. The family will be present for a visitation at Kiker Seale Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 23rd from 5-7 pm.
