

Mrs. Winnie C. Roach, age 87, of Colorado City, died Wednesday, Jane 4, 2014, in a local care center. Services will be at 10 AM Saturday, June 7, 2014, in the Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Travis Monday and Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Colorado City Cemetery under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Roach was born January 6, 1927 in Sweetwater to George F and Vera Kelley Colbert and had been a lifelong resident of Mitchell County. She married Edward Roach on August 16, 1950 in Colorado City.
In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, she was a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She worked as the church secretary at Calvary Baptist Church. She was the owner of the Merle Norman Studio in Sweetwater and Colorado City. In her later years, she took a full swing back into the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company working as a payment resource for customers.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Roach of Colorado City; a daughter, Kelley and husband, Steve Pitts of Lubbock; a son, Tyre Roach of Colorado City; a step daughter-in-law, Barbara Roach of San Antonio; grandchildren, Carly Carlough and Mandy Cox-Joost; great grandchildren, Ella Cox, Robert Edward Carlough and William Carlough; a nephew, Calvin Grant and and his wife Sandy and a niece, Stella Shaw and her husband Dave.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a step-son,Eddie B Roach, Jr and a sister, Minnie Grant.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Calvary Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 PM Friday at the funeral home.
