Cody Pat Thompson, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and mentor, passed away on October 28, 2023, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, after a long battle with Lung Cancer and MS. He was born on February 16, 1953, to C.L. Mike and Lucille "Mama Lu" Thompson, in Joplin, Missouri, before moving to Widefield, Colorado, in December of 1958.
Cody's journey in the world of real estate began when he purchased Century 21 Harlan Realty on April 1, 1982. His company later became Century 21 Academy Realty, Inc. His vision and dedication transformed the business, leading to the acquisition of several other companies and the establishment of three offices in the Colorado Springs area. His extraordinary leadership and commitment earned multiple regional and national Century 21 awards, consistently ranking among the top 20 offices in the five-state region and establishing his office as the number one office in the region. Cody's excellence placed him in the top 2% of 6,500 offices nationally, highlighting his exceptional achievements.
Beyond his impressive career in real estate, Cody was deeply involved in his community. He served as a director of the Fountain Chamber of Commerce, a director of First State Bank, president of Widefield Merchants Association, and a broker of Widefield Insurance Brokers. Cody also generously contributed to the education of young minds by teaching through Junior Achievement and held a licensed director position with the Department of Private Occupational Schools (DPOS). Cody's commitment extended to his profession as he held an emeritus status with the National Association of Realtors. His dedication and excellence were further exemplified by his multiple achievements and roles. In addition, he proudly served as a Scoutmaster for several years, guiding his sons, Nicholas and Johnathan, to achieve the esteemed rank of Eagle Scout.
In April of 1990, he married Julie (Cox), and together they welcomed two sons, Nicholas and Johnathan, into their lives. Cody is survived by his loving family, including his brother, Kenneth (Mike) Thompson, nieces Michele (Thompson) Koch, Kristi (Thompson) McLaughlin, Tonee Thompson-McLaughlin, Skyler Koch, nephews Tysen McLaughlin and Levi Koch, all of Colorado Springs, as well as nieces and nephews from out of state, and countless friends whose lives he touched.
Cody had a profound passion for the great outdoors and cherished moments spent hunting, fishing, and boating on Table Rock Lake in Missouri.
Cody Pat Thompson is preceded in death by both of his parents, leaving a lasting legacy of dedication, community service, and a love for the outdoors. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and he will be deeply missed.
Visitation for Cody will be on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Memorial Gardens, 3825 Airport Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80910 from 4 - 8 p.m. Services for Cody will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Memorial Gardens at noon followed by a Celebration of Life at Patty Jewett Bar and Grill, 900 East Espanola Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907 from 4-8 pm on Saturday November 18th.
