COLUMBIA - A graveside service for Jessy Robert “Bob” Hannon, 92, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2020 in the Mausoleum Chapel of Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service and in the same location.
Bob Hannon passed away Sunday, February 23, 2020. Born January 28, 1928 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Jefferson Rudolphus Hannon and Kate Alberta Smith. Bob was loved by many and his generosity and talents were abundant.
Mr. Hannon was a devout Christian and a member of The First Baptist Church of Lexington. A devoted family man, his beloved wife, Betty, his children and his grandchildren were always aware of his presence and influence in their lives.
In his spare time, Bob was an avid aviationist who enjoyed building, repairing and flying model airplanes and was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics. Among his other pastimes were wood working in his shop and in earlier years hunting for rocks and gems and was a Member of the Gem and Mineral Society.
Also a U.S. Army Veteran, he served during the Korean Conflict in 1950 and was stationed in Germany in the Service Company 110th Regiment of the of the 28th Division.
Surviving are his children, Kathy Stanley, Kim Ferres, Jeff Hannon (wife Michelle), and Kristi Crabtree (husband Tommy); grandchildren, Angie Hicks, Jennifer Mathews, Melany Pavlick, Josh Stanley, Amanda Ferres, Brittany Ferres, and Corey Crabtree; great-grandchildren, Andrew Pavlick, Amber Long, Katelyn Feagin, Quincy Holley, Christopher Stanley, Landon Mathews, Jayden Tilley, Abigail Stanley, Sawyer Stanley; and a great-grandchild, A.J. Matias.
In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his wife, Betty Hannon and eight siblings.
