

1SG Robert Anthony Rigon, US ARMY (RET.), age 59, of Blythewood, SC passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, in Columbia, SC. 1SG Robert was born in Chicago, IL on December 7, 1963 to Marcia Kay Rigon (Heidmeyer) and Robert Anthony Plino Rigon.
Robert was called to a duty of service at a young age and served in the United States Military as a dedicated Army Ranger for 25 years and retired in 2009 as a Master Sergeant. He served his country proudly, serving multiple tours of duty. One of Robert’s biggest accomplishments was being a father and considered himself lucky to be one. Robert was a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend who cherished his loved ones most. As an avid sports fan who loved his Ohio State Football, he never missed a college football Saturday.
Robert left this earth too soon and he is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Rigon, son, Sebastien Barrack, daughter, Erika Craighead (Kyle Craighead, Braden Craighead, Ada Craighead), Nicollete Rigon (Cassandra Nelson), son, Jordan Rigon (Amanda Nyquist, Jackson Rigon), mother, Marcia Rigon, two sisters Rene Rigon and Robin Levy, and many nieces and nephews.
To celebrate this forever hero, a gathering of family and friends for 1SG Robert will be held Monday, August 21, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM for visitation at Dunbar Funeral Home at 3926 Devine St, Columbia, SC 29205.
A celebration of life will occur Monday, August 21, 2023 at 11:30 AM at 3926 Devine St, Columbia, SC 29205. The family will hold a burial with full military honors that will occur Monday, August 21, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 4170 Percival Rd, Columbia, SC 29229. Following the burial a reception for family and friends will be held at the Rigon residence.
