COLUMBIA - Memorial service for Anne Imperato Colgate, 66, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Ms. Colgate died Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Born in New York, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Salvatore James Imperato and Rose Leggio Imperato. Ms. Colgate received her Master’s in English from the University of South Carolina and was an instructor at Benedict College and most recently an English teacher at Ridge View High School. She was a member of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) Mid-Carolina Chapter. She loved to write and often was a freelance writer for The State Newspaper. She is survived by her son, Richard Joseph “R.J.” Colgate of Columbia.
