COLUMBIA – A Mass of Christian Burial for Anthony Edward Reller, 70, will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited Thursday, January 4, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. with visitation following until 8:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Mr. Reller died Saturday, December 30, 2017. Born in St. Cloud, MN, he was the son of the late Anton and Loretta Schulte Reller. He graduated Cathedral High School in 1965 and was ordered to active duty for the Navy from 1968 to 1970 aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard (CVA-31). He married Jean Thomas Mathis in 1977. He worked as a Shipping Clerk for Pan-O-Gold Bakery in 1972 and later retired in 2009. Upon retirement, they moved to Columbia, SC. Tony will be lovingly remembered as devoted to his family, with a great sense of humor, who enjoyed bowling, fishing and watching the Minnesota Vikings. Tony and Jean enjoyed many memorable visits, walking and taking in the beautiful shorelines and views in Minnesota - Duluth, North Shore, Taylors Falls, Stillwater and Red Wing. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jean Carol Mathis Reller; his 3 children, Jessica Reller Driggers (Henry), Martin Thomas, and Valarie Thomas Mahmud (Fahar); 5 grandchildren, Sophia Caroline Driggers, Katherine Addison Driggers, Isaac Stephen Thomas, Elizabeth Thomas Anderson (Tim), and Kamran Fahar Mahmud; a great-granddaugther, Riley Elizabeth Anderson; brothers, Robert Ballmann (Millie) of White Park, MN and Gerald Reller (Karlene) of St. Paul, MN; sisters, Kathleen Hall and Carol Ann Helmin, both of Foley, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Herbert Reller and sisters, Magdalen Gott, Bertha Peters, Theresa Schulte, Hildegard Doble, Mary Ann Franzen, Dolores Gangl, Rita Feuker, and Sister Giles Reller; and in-laws.
