For the past week I started wondering what happened to Arthur, although I didn't know why, and I hadn't thought about him in years. I Googled him yesterday and was so sad to learn that he had died only a couple of weeks ago. I am very sorry for your loss. I hope he had a great life, and I offer my sincerest condolences to the family.

Growing up together in Bluefield I was his best friend in junior high and high school. We were in the Boy Scouts together at Trinity Methodist Church (my dad was our Scoutmaster) and inseparable camping buddies. In the wedding photo where he and Sue are running under the archway (at Va Tech, right?), I'm the guy standing at the far right, laughing and throwing rice. I remember that Corvette well.

So many good memories with a great man.
RIP, Art.

Art, I will always remember you as a "mentor" and friend...you always made my son Michael smile and laugh...and you encouraged me when I was sick. I will never forget the time when I told you about my son's trip to Fort Jackson and how he REALLY wanted a "little mule"...you actually found one "on line" that was for sale for $1,000. God Bless you; you will be missed. Cathleen (& Michael Ridgley)

Art will be missed by everyone who knew him. It was my pleasure to know Art at DHEC. He always tried to see the positive in people and situations. He went out of his way to be nice to everyone. He always included me in the invitations to eat on Thursdays at Santa Fe's with the gang. He was very helpful in getting information for me as a fellow veteran of the Army. My prayers are with all of the family.

God bless all of you.
