Barbara Cecilia Barksdale

COLUMBIA - Barbara Cecilia Seigler Barksdale passed away April 2, 2019 peacefully. Born in Aiken, South Carolina but growing up and living in Columbia all of her life she was a Dreher high school graduate and graduate of the University of South Carolina by the age of 20. She was actively involved in her sorority, Chi Omega, while in college and made some dear friendships during that time. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Columbia.

Barbara was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis during her late 20s and unfortunately battled that disease all of her life. She spent the last 15 years in the assisted living facility of Still Hopes and made some wonderful friends with the staff and caregivers at that facility.

She is survived by her daughter, Cecilia Barksdale Fournil; her granddaughter, Morgan Barksdale Fournil; her sister, Anne-Courtney Miller; and her mother Hazel Ann Josey.

All services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the national multiple sclerosis society (nationalmssociety.org). Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
