Betty Foshee Hamilton

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1715 Broad River Road, Columbia, SC, 29210. The family will receive friends at the church at 10:00am followed by a service at 11:00am. Dunbar Funeral Home will assist in the arrangements.

Betty was born in Prosperity SC, Newberry County on April 6, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Eugene H. Foshee and Dottie Lee (Krell) Foshee Holtzclaw. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1951 and went to work for Bell South. She retired in 1992 after 40 years of service. Betty was also a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for 65 years and the last surviving charter member. She enjoyed spending time in her garden and using her sewing skills to make special things for those she loved. She also shared her skills and love for sewing with her granddaughters and great granddaughter.

She married Perry McGowan Hamilton “Mac”, in September 1956 and they celebrated 50 years of marriage before his passing in October of 2006. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma.

She is survived by her son, Perry Wayne Hamilton (Karen) of Irmo, SC and daughter, Rebecca Hamilton Parnell of Columbia, SC. Grandchildren, Ryan Hamilton (Mandi), Kelli Hamilton, Tyler Hamilton, Dr. Amber Parnell, Allie Parnell, great grandchildren, Ella and Cooper Hamilton, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Perry “Mac” Hamilton, son-in-law Howard Joshua Parnell Jr., brother Paul Foshee, half-sisters Irene and Blanch Brooks, father, Eugene Foshee and mother, Dottie Holtzclaw.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1715 Broad River Road, Columbia, SC, 29210. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Robert Collins and South Carolina Oncology Associates and Amedysis Hospice who provided loving care in her battle with cancer and final days.
