Carey Huffman

COLUMBIA - A graveside service for Carey Huffman, 81, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2016, in Godwin Cemetery, Fincastle, Virginia. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mr. Huffman was born in Covington, Va. on April 6, 1934 to the late Charles Everette Huffman and Josephine Godwin Crowder. He graduated from Dreher High School and the University of South Carolina. He loved golfing, fishing, reading, spending time with family and fall apple trips to Virginia. Mr. Huffman spent his early career in banking and later retired from the USC Payroll Department as Director of Payrolls. He was a member of Kilbourne Park Baptist Church. Surviving are his daughter, Janice H. Timms (Andy) of Blythewood; sons, Andrew “Rhett” Huffman (Virginia) of Lexington and John “Cole” Huffman; grandchildren, Andrew Huffman, Ben Huffman and Tom Timms; sister, Jo Lynn Allen (Jim) of Columbia; brother-in-law, Robert Madden (Barbara), of West Columbia. He was predeceased by his wife, Franklyn Madden Huffman and sister, Jean Patterson (Leslie).
