

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH - A funeral service for Carnie Paris Hipp, Jr., 81, formerly of Columbia, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Mr. Hipp died Saturday, April 2, 2016. Born in Charlotte, NC, he was the son of the late Carnie Paris Hipp, Sr. and Bonnie Lee Botts Hipp. After graduating from Duke University in 1956, he began his career in banking at Nations Bank in Charlotte from 1956-1972. After moving to Columbia, he transferred to First Citizens Bank where he retired in 2000 as the Senior VP Personnel Director. Mr. Hipp served on the Board of Epworth Children’s Home and as president of the Bankers Association and The Bankers School of the University of South Carolina. He was a member of the Columbia Optimist Club, Forest Lake Country Club and loved playing golf. He was a former member of Forest Lake Presbyterian Church and currently a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of North Myrtle Beach. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Sarah Lee Kelly Hipp of North Myrtle Beach; daughters, Belinda Flohr (Phil) of Columbia, Sarah Elizabeth Moyer of Columbia and Allison Brantley (Jason) of Lexington; grandchildren, Brandon Doughty, Rachael Alley (Kevan), Bonnie Alexis Brantley and Jason H. Brantley, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Parker and Claire Alley; and sister, Elizabeth Hipp Hammersla (Edgar) of Silver Springs, MD. He was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Rhinehart and Irene Auten.
