COLUMBIA - Carolyn Wages Kelly died Sunday, June 6, 2021 in her family home surrounded by loved ones. Born in Columbia, SC on June 20, 1947, she grew up in Olympia and was a daughter of the late Thurman Wages and Mary Wages. On July 9, 1965, she married Olin Kelly Sr. and they were married for 56 years. Carolyn graduated Olympia High School in 1965, where she played basketball for the Red Devils. She worked at Allied Chemical for 35 years and retired in 2003.
Carolyn had a passion for collecting frogs, anything with a frog on it, she had to have it. She enjoyed being outside in the yard watering the grass and flowers and making sure all the birds and squirrels were fed. With her husband Olin, she looked forward to weekend outings to flea markets together. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing solitaire at the kitchen table. When she was younger, she loved going to Myrtle Beach. As a Baptist, she read the bible every day and watched the preacher on TV every Sunday. Tucker, her dog, was like her 4th child. She loved him so much. Carolyn always looked forward to spending time with her family any chance she got. She loved her family with all her heart.
Surviving are her spouse, Olin Dewitt Kelly, Sr.; children, Olin Kelly Jr., Tonya Kelly, and Kelvin Kelly (wife, Amanda Kelly); grandchildren, Kara, Krista, Kennedy, Lane, and Heath; one great-grandchild, Jayden; and her dog, Tucker.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Mikey Wages, and Trudy King.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021 in Olympia Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2021, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. The family asks friends to wear green to the visitation as it was her favorite color.
