Celeste S. Wright

Columbia, South Carolina - Celeste Stockdale Wright, 103, of Columbia died at home on Thursday, July 7, 2022. Born December 28, 1918 in Memphis, Tennessee she was the daughter of the late Henry and Marie Stockdale.

Celeste spent the majority of her youth in Atlanta, Georgia. She attended Agnes Scott College on a scholarship and married her late husband of 67 years shortly after attending her 1st year there. She was a stay-at-home mother to her 5 children and an amateur architect who designed her own homes in Savannah, Charleston and Columbia.

Celeste is predeceased by her husband, Jack Wright and a daughter, Susan Shaw. The eldest of 4 girls she is predeceased by her 3 siblings. She is survived by her son, Jack Wright, daughters Marie Wright, Betty Gum (Roy), and Nancy Carter (John). She is also survived by 4 grandsons, two great granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.

At her request, no funeral will be held. In lieu of flowers, please direct any memorial contributions to Senior Resources (RSVP), Ronald McDonald House, or a charity of the donor's choice.
