Charles Hughes Davis

COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Charles Hughes Davis, 71, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2025 at Trenholm Road United Methodist Church, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.

Mr. Davis died Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Born in Greenwood, SC, he was the son of the late Charles Edgar Davis and Lois Hughes Davis. A graduate of Greenwood High School and the University of South Carolina, he worked as a program manager for the Employment Security Commission. Charlie was a longtime member of Trenholm Road United Methodist Church. He was a huge animal lover who volunteered at the Humane Society. An avid Gamecock and Elvis fan, he found joy in golf, fantasy football, exploring the mountains, and traveling.

Surviving are his wife, Paige Herndon Davis; sons, Charles Tyler Davis (Madeleine) of Charleston, SC, and Hunter Hughes Davis of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Charles Kennedy Davis and Evander Mark Davis, both of Charleston, SC; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Asher.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Terri Anita Davis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trenholm Road United Methodist Church or an animal league of one’s choice.
