COLUMBIA - A Celebration of Life for Charles Leverett Adams “Charlie” Terreni, Jr., 18, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2015, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 2827 Wheat Street, Columbia. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Charlie died Wednesday, March 18, 2015. Born in Columbia, he was a son of Charles Leverett Adams Terreni and Patricia Yeatman Terreni. Charlie played soccer since he was able to walk; he loved the game, but enjoyed his teammates and coaches even more. His greatest joy was playing varsity soccer for Cardinal Newman beginning in 8th grade until he graduated in 2014. Cardinal Newman won three state championships during his time on the team. The 2014 championship season was the best because he was joined on the varsity team by his younger brother, Shand. Friends were important to Charlie, and he made them easily with a quick smile and sense of humor. He enjoyed travelling, especially visits with his relatives in Italy, whom he adored. Charlie was a freshman at the University of South Carolina where he had pledged Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. Surviving are his parents of Columbia; brother, Robert Shand Terreni of the home; maternal grandparents, Alfred and Margaret Yeatman of Columbia; uncle and aunt, Robert and LariAnn Yeatman of Rexburg, Idaho; first cousins, Brandon Yeatman of Rexburg, Idaho and Ashley Holden and her husband, Tyler of Boise, Idaho; and great-aunt, Iole Terreni. Also surviving are his dogs, Starsky and Hutch, and cats, Snowshoe, Louis and Bacall. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Renato and Anne Terreni. The family has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from our friends and family during this most difficult time. Charlie’s classmates, in particular, many of whom have returned from out of state, have brought God’s grace into our home. We have experienced love and generosity without bounds, and will never forget it. Memorials may be made to Cardinal Newman School, 4701 Forest Drive, Columbia, SC 29206 or Congaree Rapid Soccer Association, P.O. Box 2135, West Columbia, SC 29171.
