

COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Charlotte Hilborn Brown, widow of Charles Lloyd Brown, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2014, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Brown died Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at Lifecare Center of Charleston. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Earl Malcolm Hilborn and Mae Lena Chestnutt Hilborn. She was a veteran of World War II, past president of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW # 641. For many years she worked as a beautician in Charleston and later with her husband at Browns Exxon and Five Points Exxon. Surviving are her son, Layton C. Cook, III and his wife, Linda; step-son, Charles A. Brown and his wife, Charlotte; grandchildren, David and Scott Cook, Matty and Patty Brown; great-grandson, Chandler Cook; sisters, Mrs. Charles (Maxine) Reed, Mrs. Robert (Mary) McLaughlin, Mrs. Alan (Betty) Mitchell; brother, Mr. Don Wilkinson and his wife, Kathleen; several nieces and nephews.
