

COLUMBIA - A Celebration of life for Christopher “Chris” Thomas Grooms, 24, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Gadsden Community Center. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the Celebration.
Chris died Wednesday, October 22, 2025. Born in Columbia, he was the son of William Gene Williams and Teresa Michelle Hamm Whittaker. He attended Lower Richland High School and was employed as a sales associate with Dollar General.
He was an avid gamer and card collector. He loved playing around with his nieces, had an artistic hand, and loved nature and animals very deeply. He liked hanging out with his friends and family playing games and laughing.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers, Corey Grooms (Ashley), David Williams (Megan), Jackson (Melia); sister, Ruby Williams; his beloved dog/brother, Zeus; best friend/brother, Chase Felder; his beloved nieces and nephews; and his aunt and uncles and many many cousins.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, George Thomas Hamm (Dandy), Tina Louise Tyson (Mawmaw), and great-grandparents, Wallace (PopPop) and Gloria (Nanny) Williams, Conrad (Buck) and Ruby (Mawmaw) Fox.
The family wishes to thank The Prisma Heart Health for the unconditional support and love from the nurses and doctors and the use of room 6332. Special thanks to Sharing Hope for the unconditional care and respect that was shown to us by the staff.
We would like to give a special Thanks to Dr. Zach Bondranko, Dr.Leone, Nighttime Nurse Mallory McNally, DayShift Nurse Aaron Kimball, Reginald B. (TeddyBear) for the love and care you showed not only us as a family but for Christopher.
