
CHARLESTON - Clay Crovatt Brennecke passed away in Charleston, SC, on Thursday, December 10, 2015. He was born on November 22, 1964, in Savannah, GA. Clay was the son of Jerry Mishoe Brennecke and Nancy Crovatt Brennecke. Clay is survived by his wife Andrea Lee Brennecke and son Camden Emery Brennecke, as well as his wife’s mother Janet Ann York, father Arthur Jerome York, and brother Christopher Brady York. Clay is also survived by his sister Mishoe Brennecke Croom and her husband Frederick Hailey Croom. Clay leaves his beloved aunt Lynn Crovatt, adoring nephews Alexander McMillan Croom and Augustus Brennecke Croom, and devoted cousins John Barron Foley, Kevin Timothy Foley, Julia Louise Brennecke, and Frank Breazeale Brennecke III (Georgia Taylor), and their children. A native of Columbia, SC, Clay attended Heathwood Hall Episcopal School from which he graduated in 1983. He earned a B.S. and an M.B.A. from the University of South Carolina. For a number of years, Clay worked for Microsoft Corporation in Charlotte, NC. Since 2009, Clay resided on Johns Island, SC. Clay was an avid white-water kayaker and loved the outdoors, especially the beaches and mountains of South Carolina. He was passionate about music and dedicated himself to the preservation and perpetuation of the many concerts he attended over the years. He loved photography, food, friends, and family, especially his wife Andrea and son Camden. The funeral will be held at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral on Thursday, December 17, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow the service in the Stirling Room. The Very Reverend Timothy Jones will officiate, and The Reverend Marshall Huey will deliver the eulogy. The crucifer will be Frank Taylor Brennecke. Readers will be Kevin Timothy Foley and Albert Randolph Hough. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Canoeing for Kids, 114 Riverchase Court, Lexington, SC 29072.
