Born in Columbia, SC, he was a son of the late Peter Dan Pillas and Elizabeth Kuckertz Shealy Pillas. A graduate of A.C. Flora High School, he also attended Timmerman School and was an exceptionally talented artist. He went on to become a successful entrepreneur in many ventures. Dan also spent time living in Myrtle Beach, where he worked in the Mobile cell phone industry.
Surviving are his sister, DeAna Shealy of Chapin, SC and her life partner, Tom “Tbird” Toglio of Columbia, SC; brother, Bernie Shealy of Columbia, SC; cousins, Gregory Nicholas, Ellia Nicholas, Georgia Nicholas, Jeff Pillas, Basil Lempesis, Joyce Sandifer and Sunday Cogburn; and numerous friends. You could never find anyone who did not like Dan.
