
COLUMBIA - David Albert Dunn, 79, died Friday, August 26, 2016 at his home in Forest Acres, SC. Born in Charlotte, NC, he was the son of the late Nora Riley Dunn and the late Rev. James Otis Dunn, Sr. of Lexington, NC. He attended Churchland High School and then served 22 years in the United States Air Force (USAF), retiring as a Master Sergeant in Myrtle Beach, SC, where he had been stationed for several years. During the Vietnam War, he served his country in Thailand, after spending time in Okinawa, Turkey, and Madrid, Spain, where he met and married his late wife Consuelo Delgado Dunn in 1960. After retiring from the USAF, he worked for the Springmaid Pier and the Heron Point Golf Course in Myrtle Beach, where he was an Assistant Pro Golfer. He and Mrs. Dunn moved to Mount Pleasant, SC in 2000 and then to North Charleston, SC where she passed away in 2009. He then moved to Columbia. Mr. Dunn was an avid golfer, fisherman, and sports fan. He is survived by his two children, David Dunn of Columbia and Sandra Dunn of Hampton Bays, NY, as well as four grandchildren; one sister, Marsha Douglas of Homosassa, FL; and two brothers, Dowd Dunn of Salisbury, NC and Jim Dunn of China Grove, NC. The Dunn family is being served by Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Mr. Dunn expressed that he did not wish to have any formal services.
