David Buxton Jones

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2020 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. A private family service will be held with Pastor Andrew Isenhower of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church officiating.

Mr. Jones was born July 9, 1938 in Greenville to the late William and Josie Buxton Jones. He was reared by his grandmother, Susannah Garrison Jones and his aunts Katharine and Jaqueline Jones. In 1960, he was the recipient of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University. He served his country proudly in the United States Army and the United States Army Reserves from 1956 – 1965. David began his career with SCE&G as a Communication Engineer and held a First Class FCC and Professional Engineer Licenses. He retired after 42 years of service with the company.

In 1962, David married Roberta Propst. For the next 58 years they lived in Columbia building their family.

He was predeceased by his son, Keith David Jones. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Roberta “Cindy” Jones; a daughter, Paige Jones Gossett (Jeffrey) both of Columbia; a son, James Robert Jones of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren who were the light of his life: Jackson Keith Gossett, Ainsley Cooper Gossett and Anna Katherine Gossett.
