While fighting a brave battle with cancer, Tony was healed and went to be with the Lord on September 10, 2019 in Columbia, SC. Tony was born in Hopewell, Virginia and grew up in Hendersonville, NC. He was the son of David Cleveland and Frances Miller Templeton. Tony was a graduate of Hendersonville High School, Go Bearcats! He then received his Associates Degree in Nursing from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, and Bachelor of Science degree from Southern New Hampshire University. He was a nurse at Prisma Health Richland Children’s Hospital. Tony was a kind, patient, and comical person. He had the ability to bring a smile to anyone and was often referred to as a “gentle giant” to all who knew him. He loved his Lord, his family, friends, patients, colleagues, and his Tarheels. He was a bright light to all around him. His son David, was his right-hand man and best friend. He was so proud of his daughter-in-law Rachel and happy to finally have a daughter. His grandchildren were his heart and soul. Most importantly, his wife, whom he referred to as Sweet Sallie, was the love of his life and he will always be her Smoochie. In addition to his parents, Tony is survived by his wife of thirty years, Sarah Arnette Templeton, his son David-Timothy (Rachel) Templeton of Lexington, SC, three grandchildren, Johnathan, Selah and Natalie-Grace Templeton of Lexington, SC, sister Angela Templeton of Hendersonville, NC, sister-in-law Martha (Barney) Watts of Lizella, GA, brothers-in-law Albert Arnette of Leesville, SC, James Arnette of Lizella, GA, and David (Rachel) Arnette of Greenville, SC, nieces and nephews Al Arnette of Gilbert, SC, Caroline Arnette (TJ) Asbill of Leesville, SC, Luke Hollingsworth of Hendersonville, NC, Kylie Hollingsworth of Hendersonville, NC, Hannah, Joseph, and Joy Arnette of Greenville, SC. I am grateful for the happy memories of Tony being such a wonderful influence for my children as they were growing up. He had that balance of being fun-loving and God-fearing and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Sympathies in the silence.

Nurse Tony was one of my 2.5year old son’s favorites. He was truly a special nurse and always had a way of lifting our spirits on the hardest days. He would wear scrubs that he knew were superhero’s or characters that my son liked so they could talk about them and I’ll never forget him asking Judah if he would share his rice with him. Judah was your typical 2year old that would say “NO, Mr. Tony! This is MY RICE!” So then it became a joke between us all that he would ask Judah to share his food. He would sometimes pretend he wanted to eat it. Such a simple game, but things like this fill in the gaps of long hospital stays. Mr. Tony loved our kids and he enjoyed them. We will miss him!

Most of my childhood was spent with Tony. He was truly a best friend and a brother to me. I’m still in shock that he’s gone from earth. What a great person, supporter and listener he was. His smile and laugh lit up a room and my life. I’m grateful he is no longer suffering, but he will be missed by many. I’ll see you again my friend. Rest In Peace. My sincere condolences to your family.
