Donnie Kay Cooper
February 13, 1945 – January 22, 2023

COLUMBIA – A Mass of Christian Burial for Donnie Kay Cooper, 77, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in the church Columbarium. The Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2023, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with visitation to follow until 7:00 p.m.
Donnie passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023. Born in Columbus, Georgia, he was a son of the late Raymond Clay Cooper and Ida Donnis Tomlin Cooper. A graduate of Georgia Southern University, he worked as an Insurance Adjuster Ligation Specialist. Donnie was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a Charter Member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Knights of Columbus Council 12554, as well as a Fourth Degree Knight.
Surviving are his wife, Sheila Hill Cooper; daughter, Maria Hope Cooper; brothers, Butch Cooper (Marilyn) of Albany, G.A.; and Sam Cooper of Pell City, AL.; and many nieces, nephews; and a large extended family. Sheila and Maria were Donnie’s greatest source of love, pride and joy.
He was a military history buff, and loved to fish. He loved Atlanta Braves Baseball, and University of Georgia Football. In school, he was always the quiet one, but “everybody loved Donnie.”
