

COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Dorothy Murray Culbreath will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015, at First Baptist Church, Boyce Chapel, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Serenity Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Mrs. Culbreath died Sunday, March 15, 2015. Born in Morganton, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Gray Murray and Gaynelle Yates Murray. Mrs. Culbreath graduated from Meredith College and the School of Medicine Technology, Raleigh, N.C. She worked for Rex Hospital in Raleigh, N.C. and then retired from Byrnes Medical Center after 16 years as a medical technologist. Mrs. Culbreath was a member of First Baptist Church for over thirty years and was also part of the Naylor Sunday School Class. She also taught children’s Sunday School for over twenty years and sang in the church choir. She enjoyed tennis and volunteered much of her time at her children’s school. Surviving are her children, Lee Ann Culbreath Hocutt (Mark) of Columbia, Gray T. Culbreath (Virginia) of Columbia; grandchildren, Mary Clyde Culbreath, Amelia Culbreath, Murray Culbreath, Parker Hocutt, Karson Hocutt; and several nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Jesse Thomas Culbreath; a brother, Gray Murray; and her sister, Hazel Grady.
