Dorothy Ann Kane

COLUMBIA - Memorial Service for Dorothy Ann “D’Ann” Kane, 74, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2015 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. D’Ann passed away Monday, June 8, 2015. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Rhea Leonard “Mac” McCary and Dorothy “Dot” Thompkins McCary. She was the wife of the late James Francis Kane. D’Ann was a 1958 graduate of Dreher High School. She attended Limestone College and retired from the University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business. D’Ann was on the Presidential Advisory Board at Limestone College. She enjoyed her position at Stein Mart as a Boutique Model and was an extensive world traveler. D’Ann was a friend to all who knew her. She had a great love of hosting friends and family at her home including the Marsh Hens and the Birthday Group. Surviving are her son, Clay Britt (Kimberly); daughter, Missy Barkdoll (Bill); Mike Britt, the father of her children; grandchildren, Jake, Nolan, Britt, Hailey, and Joey. She is also survived by her nephews, Rhea McCary, Fred McCary, Steve McCary, Scott McCary, Rhett McCary; and her special friend and partner, Jimmy Hook. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bob McCary; nephews, John and Todd McCary. Memorials may be made to Limestone College, 1115 College Drive, Gaffney, S.C. 29340.
