FORT MILL - A visitation for Beth Cooper Parker will be held on Saturday, March 18th 2023 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Dunbar Funeral Home, 3926 Devine St, Columbia, South Carolina 29205, followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm. The interment will follow Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Beth was born on August 16th, 1963, in Columbia, South Carolina. Growing up in Columbia, Beth, like her mom, was a devoted member of the Girl Scouts, along with her sister Stephanie. She also began many lifelong friendships, and always held her “Lunch Bunch” close to her heart. She graduated from Columbia High School in 1981, and from the University of South Carolina in 1985 with a degree in marketing. She recently celebrated her 10th anniversary with Pentegra as a marketing professional.
On April 26th, 1986, Beth married the love of her life, Matt, and started their beautiful 37 years of marriage together. Matt and her two daughters, Taylor and Cassidy, were the light of her life, and she spent the rest of her life devoted to them and activities involving them. Beth became a Girl Scout troop leader for both Taylor and Cassidy, continuing on the family tradition, and led them both for many years through countless meetings and trips. Once the girls entered elementary school, Beth became president of the Lake Wylie Elementary PTA, and founded the Lake Wylie Elementary Annual Christmas Parade. From her youth she was a devoted Methodist and continued to be as an adult. She was a Sunday school teacher and volunteered at many church events and continued to donate to church foundations throughout her life.
Once her girls found their passion for soccer, she found her passion for being involved in soccer too. She was the founder and co-executive director of the Steele Creek Soccer Club. As she excelled in that capacity, she was awarded the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association Volunteer of the Year.
Beth loved to travel with her family, and over the years traveled all over the US and Europe. She renewed her vows to Matt in Gatlinburg, Tennessee for their 10th year, in Hawaii for their 20th year, and in Italy for their 30th year. She treasured all of her time traveling, but also just loved times at home enjoying the simple things in life like puzzles, Sudoku and The Price is Right.
Surviving her are her loving husband, Matt Parker, her two daughters, Taylor and Cassidy Parker, her sister Stephanie Cooper, and Stephanie’s three sons, Seth, Zach and Madison.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Beth’s name to a charity she often supported: Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina,
