COLUMBIA - Funeral services for Frances Pauline Barber, 89 went home to be with the Lord on November 11, 2018 will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Pauline was born in Winnsboro on January 25, 1929 to Sam and Lillian Hornsby. Mrs. Barber was employed at Providence Hospital retiring after 27 years of service and was a certified EMT. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church and taught Kindergarten in the 60’s and 70’s at the former Rosewood Baptist Church, where she was an active member until her health declined; volunteering at the food pantry, Sunday school programs, Homebound Ministries , a member of Young at Heart and also was a volunteer at the VA Hospital. She will be remembered as a dedicated wife, loving mother and a great Nanny.
In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her husband of 45 years, James Thomas Barber, Sr., a daughter, Mary Lillian Jones, grandson, Tommy Jones, two brothers and one sister. Surviving include her son, Jimmy Barber (Jeannie), a daughter, Terri Yarnall (Greg), three grandchildren, Shanna, Chris, Jonathan, three great-grandchildren, Tori, Rachel, Aidan, sister, Dot Alexander, brother, Joe Hornsby and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Pauline’s honor may be made to For Life Transportation, in care of Kim and Patrick, 454 Cromer Road, Lexington, SC 29073.
