

Frances Hopkins was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina. She was the only child of Lillian Frances Heath of Beaufort, SC and Francis Vanbenthuysen of Columbia, SC.
Mrs. Hopkins grew up in Columbia, SC where she was formerly married to Henry Francis Jumper Jr. and is survived by 5 of her 6 children. Henry Francis Jumper III (Donna), Heath Jumper Cartwright (Jim), Francis VanBenthuysen Jumper (Lynne), Christopher Lucius Jumper (Laura), and Catherine Jumper Render (Phil), and her predeceased son, Michael Carl Jumper.
Mrs. Hopkins was predeceased by her late husband Lt. Colonel Porcher Palmer Hopkins of Hopkins SC and is survived by 2 stepchildren, Dr. Christie Benet (Laurie) and Alice Hopkins Otis (William). Mrs. Hopkins was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Hopkins had many interests to include a career in real estate. She attended the University of South Carolina as an Art major where she was a member of Tri-Delta sorority and a member of the 1946 May Queen Court. She made her debut at the South Carolina Assembly Ball and was a former member of The Camelia Ball club. She has been a life long member of Forest Lake Country Club and 4th Generation member of Trinity Cathedral of South Carolina. She was a past board member of the Women's Center for Palmetto Health Baptist. Her consistent support of SisterCare of South Carolina and the Republican Party demonstrated her desire to see a better world for all mankind. Her favorite things in life were her family, being with great friends celebrating any occasion, and her many animals over the years.
Mrs. Hopkins' family wishes to thank the following people for their love, support and help during her hours of need. Sandra Drumond, Carrie Alston, Amedisys Hospice and her many friends and neighbors for their consistent care.
Dunbar Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A private family burial will be held at Trinity Cathedral. A Celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Trinity Cathedral, Columbia SC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sistercare of South Carolina, SC Cancer Society, Pawmetto Lifeline, or Trinity Cathedral of South Carolina.
