Frances A. Spratt

Frances A. Spratt passed away peacefully on March 27, 2021 at the age of 95. Born Frances Eugenia Griffith in McMinnville, TN, she spent her early years in McMinnville until moving to Nashville, TN, where she graduated from Hillsborough High School and Peabody College. She also attended Vanderbilt University. Frances worked in Atlanta, GA at 3rd US Army Headquarters, in charge of troop and material movement. She was married to Lt. Eric Anderson, a USAF fighter pilot, who was killed in combat in Korea, and later married Major James Lee Spratt in 1963. She spent the rest of her life lovingly caring for and raising 5 children. Frances loved the Lord and her church and was very faithful and active at North Trenholm Baptist Church in Columbia, SC, as a member, Sunday School teacher and manager of the volunteer staff there for many years.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ara Griffith, her first husband Eric Anderson and her second husband James Lee Spratt. She is survived by her son, Charles Griffith Spratt (Shannon) of Wexford, PA, and other children Jean Mason Spratt Jackson (Bill) of Columbia, SC, James Lee “Mike” Spratt, Jr. (Beth) of Fort Mill, SC, Thomas B. Spratt, III (Alexa) of Fort Mill, SC and Edgar F. Spratt (Karen) of Lexington, SC., 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

There will be a private family burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Columbia, SC. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Opus Post-Acute Care Employee Fund, 300 Agape Drive, West Columbia, SC 29169, North Trenholm Baptist Church, 6515 N. Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC 29206, or the Alzheimer’s Association. The family wishes to thank the staff at Opus and Agape for their care, love and support of Frances over the years.
