Frank Bernard O'Neill

Frank Bernard O’Neill, 80, passed Saturday, December 10, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Saint John’s Episcopal Church, 2827 Wheat St. Columbia, SC 29205.

Born in Patterson, N.J., he was a son of Frank O’Neill and Christina Pepper O’Neill. Surviving are his loving wife, Sally Weatherbee O’Neill; three daughters, Rachel Pertile (Alex), Rebecca Smith (Stuart), Erin O’Neill; Seven grandchildren, William Daniel Pertile, Jonathan Alexander Pertile, Evan Benjamin Pertile, Alexander Parker Pertile, Isabella Grace Pertile, Christina Riley Smith, Ethan Paul Smith; brothers, Patrick O’Neill, John O’Neill; and one sister, Maryann Aemiegeo.

Frank was married to the love of his life, Sally, for 59 years. He was very involved in his children’s lives as well as those of his seven grandchildren. If he wasn’t coaching them, he was often seen on the sidelines cheering them on. He attended more cross country meets, karate belt tests, basketball, football, lacrosse, volleyball, and soccer games than one could count. Family meant everything to him.

After serving four years in the Air Force, Frank matriculated and then graduated from the University of Maine with an Electrical Engineering degree. He worked for Pirelli Cable, now Prysmian, based in Milan, Italy for 30 years. Frank was well respected in the field of electrical cable. He was the Director of International Sales and Marketing and holds two patents under his name, one international and one domestic. He travelled all over the globe with his job and also lived in Milan, Italy with his wife and daughters.

Besides his family, his lifelong passion was golf. He played on the golf team at the University of Maine. Over his long golf career, he shot his age 73 times and had two holes in one.

Frank lived a full and fruitful life and will be tremendously missed by all.
