George was born in Grundy, Virginia on April 16, 1931 to John B. and Cora Mae Stiltner Collins. Raised in the Virginia coal mining era, George left civilian life to join the Army. He became a “Tankster,” as many of his veteran friends referred to themselves, serving in the Korean War. He returned to civilian life and lived in Key West, FL and Bristol, VA/TN where he served the Lord as a music leader and witness for the Lord Jesus Christ at Ruth Street Church of God. He moved to Eastover, SC upon the demise of his close friend, Margaret Duke. There he shared his musical talents and wisdom with his friend and caregiver, Lonnie Atkins, and his Eastover family until his earthly journey ended.
Special thanks is given to the Rosewood Adult Day Care group, the doctors and staff of Dorn VA Medical Center, The Dorn Community Living Center staff, and to the staff and doctors of CM Tucker Care Facility for all the care and affection shared.
