He was the son of George and Dove Dantzler.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother Lemuel Dantzler, sister Patricia McLeod and brother in law Johnnie McLeod, and brother in law Mike Strange.
He is survived by his wife Mary Beth, daughter Renee Herndon (Tom), son Eric Dantzler (Chastity) grandsons Andrew Herndon and Heath Dantzler, and granddaughter Madison Dantzler, sister Judy Strange, brother Mike Dantzler, and beloved nieces and nephews
George was a member of Masonic Lodge 410, where he served as Master during his time with the lodge
He served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1962. He worked for the United States Postal Service from 1963 to 2000 when he retired.
He enjoyed working with his hands. He built a utility building, fish pond, and constructed a large deck on his house. He could build or repair anything he put his mind to do. He loved to golf. He loved his grandchildren with his whole heart.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, September 28 in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27 from 3:00 until 5:00 pm at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.
